3 Great Cheeses for Frying

Goat Cheese

Absolutely delicious cheese for frying because it is super sturdy. Fried goat cheese is delicious as a topper to salads packed with fruits and vegetables. First place the log of goat cheese in the freezer for about 15 minutes; cut into rounds and bread with an egg, flour and panko breadcrumbs. Fry over medium-high heat with your choice of oil until both sides are golden brown.

Halloumi

Halloumi is a semi-hard, salty cheese with a high melting point so it’s perfect for frying. Pan fried halloumi makes a great appetizer and it’s very easy to make! Simply fry halloumi in a frying pan over medium-high heat with olive oil until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. It’s delicious topped with a drizzle of honey and sprinkled with chili flakes; serve with fruit like grapes, figs and berries.

Saganaki

Saganaki refers to a greek appetizer, specifically appetizers prepared in a heavy-bottomed frying pan. One of the most popular recipes is a feta saganaki which is a lightly coated feta cheese fried in a pan and finished with a squeeze of lemon. Try a half-inch slice of feta, coated with flour, fried over medium-high heat about 2 minutes per side until golden. Serve with a squeeze of lemon and delicious also with a drizzle of honey and sprinkled with sesame seeds.
