3 Types of Canned Seafood For Your Pantry

Spain and Portugal are known for canned seafood referred to as ‘conservas and the shop is the perfect place to stock your pantry.

With a variety of canned seafood on-hand – it’s easy to whip up a snack, appetizers for last minute guests or a quick meal ready in 30 minutes or less. Here are some of our favourite ways to enjoy them:

Sardines

Many canned sardines are conserved in high quality olive oil. So, try sardines with a side of salty potato chips, crackers or on crispy crostini for a taste of Spain right at home. Pair with a full bodied red wine or a cold beer.

Tuna

When you have canned tuna in the pantry, Pasta al Tonno is a dish you can put together in a flash! Italian tuna in olive oil is simply mixed with garlic, chili flakes, tomatoes and spaghetti for a beautifully light dish that is easy to make and great for the family.

Smoked Oysters

Revive the old fashioned smoked oyster by pairing with a creamy cheese like brie on a baguette or sourdough crostini for an easy appetizer or snack (we are a fan of the classic Saltine cracker as the perfect vessel). Smoked oysters are generally steamed when fresh, smoked and then packaged in oil for a super-tender bite.

And if you want to keep things really simple, just serve any of these delicious items with our baguettes – baked fresh daily.
