We carry a wide selection of chocolates in the shop from Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, USA, United Kingdom, Austria, Spain and Alberta-made too! Here are a few favourite places of origin and what you can expect when enjoying them:
Italy
Italy may not be as well-known as other European countries for chocolate but they produce some of the world’s most recognizable chocolate products! Think of products like Nutella, Kinder, Perugina or Baci. The world’s most luxurious chocolate, Amedei Tuscany, can be found in our store too! You’ll find that many chocolates from Italy are creamier and sweeter than their Swiss counterparts.
Switzerland
Did you know chocolates from Switzerland is some of the most expensive chocolates in the world! For Swiss chocolate-makers it’s all about the core ingredient, milk. Made with Alpine milk produced by cows that roam the grassy mountain regions of the country, what makes this milk so special is the same reason cheeses from Switzerland are also so delicious. The cows are raised on an organic grass diet at high altitudes which contributes greatly to the quality and flavour of the milk. The rich cocoa butter and milk used to craft swiss chocolates are a big reason why it’s world renowned; it’s so smooth and luxurious.
Alberta
There is an exciting chocolate scene right here in our own province! Chocolate makers in Alberta are more than ever sourcing their beans directly from ethical sources (cacao farmers) and putting in the work to make beautiful, handmade chocolate creations. By making chocolate this way, you get a huge variety of chocolate across the province, each with their own handmade taste.
