Are you making a lot of bread at home lately? Or, are you buying more loaves than usual? If you find yourself with too much bread or bread that’s a few days old, here are a few ways you can repurpose it to make it go much farther

Make Crackers

Make delicious crackers from stale bread. Slice the bread into very thin slices and brush both sides with olive oil. Place the slices in a single layer on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake at 350F for about 8-12 minutes until golden brown.

 

Make Panzanella Salad

Panzanella salad is the perfect way to use up day-old bread. Think toasted bread cubes mixed with a variety of vegetables, cheese and dressing for a filling salad.

Make Croutons

Cube & season leftover bread slices to make your own croutons! Season the cubes of bread with olive oil, salt and pepper or other favourite seasonings like oregano or thyme. Spread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and roast in the oven at 375F for about 15-20 minutes, turning halfway through in order to get them browned. Once fully cooled, store in a container for up to a week

Make Breadcrumbs

First, grind leftover bread in a food processor or blender. Spread out on a baking sheet and bake at 300F for about 10 minutes, until toasted and dry. Let completely cool the baking sheet and store for about a month in a container.
